SCHOLARSHIP SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

MystiCon will be offering one $500 merit scholarship for college-bound Virginia High School seniors graduating in the 2013-2014 school year for original and creative works in creative writing and/or art.

WRITING SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES

  • No limit on entries per applicant. For each entry you wish to submit, please fill out the submission form.
  • Entries must be science fiction or fantasy themed.
  • Each entry must be between 1000 and 3000 words in length.
  • Electronic submissions in Rich Text Format (RTF) or PDF only.

ART SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES

  • No limit on entries per applicant. For each entry you wish to submit, please fill out the submission form.
  • Entries must be science fiction or fantasy themed.
  • Electronic submissions in uncompressed .jpeg format only
  • Original artwork must be presented at convention
  • Please limit file sizes to 2MB.

JUDGING AND NOTIFICATION

  • Entries must be submitted by December 31, 2013. We will not accept late entries.
  • Entry forms will be available online shortly. You may request a form via e-mail from mysticon.mail@gmail.com Attn: Scholarship Committee.
  • A panel of judges made up of professional artists, writers and teachers chosen by the scholarship committee will review each entry. The judges’ decisions are final.
  • Plagiarized entries are subject to immediate disqualification (Don’t cheat!)
  • Winners will be notified, and an announcement be made at the convention. Winners must provide enrollment status.
